Ex-headmaster jailed for molesting student

(都市日報P.43  22 Nov 2012) The Kwun Tong Court sentenced a former school headmaster yesterday to 13 months in jail for repeatedly molesting (猥褻) a student he tutored (補習) nearly three decades ago.

Walter Yau Woon-man, 53, pleaded guilty last month for molesting the student at her home on three occasions, during private tutorials(個人補習的) between 1986 and 1987. The first

offence犯法(行為) occurred(發生) when the victim was 11 years old. The prosecution(檢察局) said last month that the victim did not inform anyone about the attacks. She only decided to seek help (求助) from a social worker earlier this year, after finding out that Mr Yau had become a headmaster at a special-needs school(特殊學校) in Shek Kip Mei.

The case was reported to the police and Mr Yau was later arrested. The school has since confirmed the resignation(辭職) of Mr Yau and said they have not received any sexual complaints against the headmaster. The victim is now aged 36 and married.
