Reading Extensively or Intensively

(Kar) Some people think we should read extensively. However some say we should read intensively. The former and the latter differ in the following respects.

 

Through reading extensively, we can obtain a variety of knowledge including science, literature and philosophy of life. Besides, we know about the difference between Eastern and Western cultures, the religions and history of every country in the world. As a result, we can enrich our knowledge, broaden our horizons and widen our social networks. People who read extensively read a wide range of books. They think books can bring them knowledge producing abilities to earn money. Therefore, they spend plenty of time in reading books. However, being interested in various kinds of books, so people who spend a lot of money in buying books.

 

Through reading intensively, we can get special knowledge and skills offering real service to humanity for earning a living, walk the road to great success but cannot obtain different kinds of knowledge. People who read intensively read books of a specific field. They think reading books is more efficient than anything else because if they get particular knowledge and skills, they will be able to learn with success. Their dreams come true. They therefore spend less time in reading books. Also, being interested in chosen books, those people spend less money in buying books.

 

Based on the above contrast between reading extensively and intensively, I think we should read extensively because we can get different kinds of knowledge broadening our horizons.
