Job-hopping Or Staying in Old Jobs

21/2/2014
(Kar) Some people change their jobs time after time. Most job-hoppers think that working in different companies, they can get a variety of working experience and skills as well as better income.
Job-hoppers are always working in different organizations where the environment is unfamiliar. They may be hard to get along with their colleagues working in those organizations. Feeling lonely and helpless, the job-hoppers do not get support from colleagues in time of difficulty. Furthermore, they have no sense of belonging and not stay long in an organization and being unreliable. As a result, they have no chance of promotion. However, those people can obtain various working experience in different organizations, which can broaden their horizons. It benefits them finding the most suitable profession and to step on the road to great success. Those who often change their jobs are always looking for organizations of higher pay. So, their income is higher.
On the other hand, working in a familiar environment, people staying in their jobs are able to set up stable interpersonal relationships with colleagues. It can make them to easily obtain support from colleagues if they have problems. They do not feel lonely and helpless. Besides, people who have a sense of belonging and stay in an organization for a long time, even for life. The organization trusts them because of being loyal and helpful. They therefore have chance of promotion. Nevertheless, they are lacking in knowledge and experience in the work field because of staying in their jobs work in only one or two organizations. Their pay changes little. As a result, their income is lower.
In light of the above contrast between job-hopping and staying in old jobs, I hold that we should often stay in our jobs because we are easy to get along with colleagues and the organization trusts us.
