Cathay Pacific staff move closer to industrial action

國泰工潮未解 聖誕罷工危機仍在

(Metro Daily P.42  5 Dec 2012) The threat of a strike by Cathay Pacific cabin crew ((航班空服員)during the Christmas holidays has moved closer.
The latest development came after a deadline their union set for the airline to resume talks (恢復談判) by 3 pm yesterday passed without response.

Cathay Pacific announced on Friday that it was offering staff an average 2 per cent pay rise, instead of the 5 per cent they are seeking(追求).

The flight attendants union has now scheduled an extraordinary general meeting for Monday, December 9, to seek the views of members on the way forward.
In addition to a better pay award, the flight attendants (機艙服務員) want a cross-base  flying arrangement to be scrapped (廢棄) and flight patterns to be improved.

The industrial action(工業行動), if it takes place, is expected to cause serious disruption and travel plans over the busy holiday season.

Metro and agencies.
