Kowloon Motor Bus seeking to raise fares by 8.5 per cent

Kowloon Motor Bus has applied for a 8.5 per cent fare increase next year.
( Metro Daily  30 Nov 2012) The company said yesterday that despite（儘管）a 3.26 per cent rise in May last year, it had recorded a loss of HK$15-million in the first half of 2012.
The company said it had faced rising fuel, operating and maintenance（維修）application was approved, they’d still only break even（收支平衡）next year. costs, as well as a drop in passengers.
KMB’s Managing Director, Edmond Ho, said that if the
KMB was founded(建立) in 1933, and is the largest franchised bus ( 巴士經營權) operator (企業經營者) in Hong Kong.
It is also one of the largest privately owned public bus operators in the world.
It operates a fleet (車隊) consisting (組成)of about 4,000 buses on about 400 routes and employs a staff of over 12,000.
