Proposal to Make the School a Green School

(Kar)

1. Introduction

This is a proposal by Environment Committee on making our school a green school. Green schools are schools that aim to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

2. The Details

The school can go green by the following ways:

2.1  Environment Committee to oversee the subject and implement the standards and laid down by the Education Bureau (EDB) and the Environmental Protection Department (EPD).

2.2  The standards are:

    Transport

l  Students should be encouraged to walk, cycle or 
     use public transport as much as possible to travel
     to and from school.

l  All school vehicles must meet government
     standards on vehicle emissions.

2.3  Advantages and benefits and saves money

      is:

 

l  Advantages and Greenery the school 
     We decided to plant a lot of trees because 
    trees help to reduce global warming by
    turning carbon dioxide into oxygen.

          Then we decided to also create a vegetable

          garden.It was a great idea because it meant 
          we would not only produce food that we
          could eat but the plants would also produce
          more oxygen to further help the environment.
           
 l Saving energy 

          40% of energy that could be saved by
          having four solar panels installed at school

          10% of energy that could be saved by using
          energy-saving light bulbs throughout the
          school

          15% of energy that could be saved by setting
          all the air conditioners to 25.5^oC

3. Funding

3.1  Grants from the government in the future. 
       Currently provided by our school.

3.2  Raise funds by fundraising event.

3.3  Solar panels-saving from electricity can cover the
       cost.

4  Future plans

    If these plans are successful we could plan to
    make our school even greener.
